I'm planning some chnages in my life that might give me more free time/require off time, some I'm considering picking up a hobby.

Basically "What gives Psychic Duelists their powers"

What causes Magic. Is it like an underlying force of nature similar to Gravity and the standard Speed of Light?

And I guess it's been bugging me... I want to know more about "The Light of Destruction". I've let it be buried for a decade now, but it's something from my past I want to learn about.

I'm good at Dueling, at teaching others how to Duel but I feel I know so little about everything surronding Dueling's more esoteric and otherworldly nature.

Yes. I am a registered Psychic Duelist, but I never understood how I ended up with the exact power, other than it being tied to dueling. So I initially studied the causation and effects, and how it's also a hereditary factor-- as limited as the sample pool is for the number of years dueling's been around...

... Disappointingly, it was difficult to really get access to materials or funding for something like that, especially before knowledge of them became more widespread. It's why I switched to researching the effects of monsters and other supernatural entities on the world's history.

It was close enough.

Hrm.

Well with the Spirit-Arcadia Institute being what it is, there might be a better chance to investigate that.

I get the feeling that monsters, spirits and magic and Psychic Duelists are connected. Perhaps Psychic Duelists are humans with monster blood that while it might not surface as monster related nature, it does grant them the monster-like power to create real mass and damage?

It's just a speculative hypothesis. But...

The theory that Psychic Duelists are humans with a monster heritage was one of my main focuses. It's why I switched to what I did, before going currently into AI development.

One of the more interesting points however is that one of the earliest recorded signs of awareness for Psychic Duelists, is actually in France. But the idea of "summoning monsters that inflict damage to the opponent" can tie all the way back to the study on Egypt that inspired the game originally.
